Be a kid again! Mangoes are in season it's time to be a kid again!. Summers are on a high peak and my house is full of guest. My cousins and their kids have come for vacation. Unlike every summer this summer also we have mangoes. Mangoes that are directly plucked by our family members from the mango trees planted in our garden.
As it's a vacation time we all wanted kids to have fun but also they learn new things. This time to get mangoes was not so easy as it used to be...Aahaaa!. We had planned activities for kids and adults like a dad and son/daughter mango cooking competition on the 1st day and mango eating competition on the 2nd day. This time everyone had to learn & earn the prize.
Before starting the competition we wanted kids to know about the mangoes and history of the name given to it "The King of fruits". In ancient times princes used to pride themselves on the possession of large mango gardens. It used to be a matter of pride and prestige. Ever since, the Mango was known as the King of the fruits. One of all the varieties Alphonso is the sweetest breed.
The competition started and ended. Dishes prepared by kids and their father were Aamras, Mango Lassi, Mango Smoothie, etc. Among all the dishes the one dish that had truly stand out was the Aamras. Aamras made of mango, thick and creamy textured saffron and cardamom flavor to enrich the taste.
