Winters are on its peak and summers are about to come. In Mumbai, it is not only the season that changes but also the style of cooking. Summer is the season that comes with a decrease in appetite and an increase in refreshing and cooling beverages to quench thirst.
There are a wide variety of beverages available in the market but there are some you can prepare at your home within 10 to 15 minutes. Drinks like lemon juice, aam panna, and masala chaas are some of the best summer drinks you can prepare once and keep in your refrigerator for the whole day. Your kids can have themselves once prepared and stored in the refrigerator.
Lemon Juice
- 2 lemon
- 2 Spoon of sugar
- 1 Jaljeera powder
- 7 to 8 cup of water
Method
Step 1: Cut the lemon into 2 pice and squeeze the juice in a jug with hand or juicer
Step 2: Add 1 spoon of white sugar as per taste more or less
Step 3: Add roasted cumin powder or jaljeera in it
Step 4: Fill the jug with water (7 to 8 cup)
Step 5: Stir the lemon juice until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 6: Keep the juice in the refrigerator to cool. Serve as in or garnish the juice with lemon wedges or pudina leaves on it
AAM PANNA
Aam Panna is a summer special drink. This drink is made of raw mango. It is said that one should mostly drink this beverage before going out of your house as it saves you from sunstroke. This drink can be made in two ways sweet and salted as per choice.
Ingredient
- 1 raw mango
- 1tbl spoon of roasted jeera or chaat masala
- Salt or Sugar (as per taste)
- Pudina leaves
- Water
Method
Step 1: Wash raw mango with room temperature water and keep it to boil in a presser cooker or vessel with lid.
Step 2: Once the mango is boiled turn off the burner and let it cool down. Once the mango is cooled peel off the mango skin.
Step3: Scrape and remove mongo pulp in mixing jar add a 1tbl spoon of jeera, chat masala, salt as per taste, pudina leaves, 2-3 glass of water and blend.
Step4: Keep the drink in the refrigerator to cool.
Serve as in or garnish with pudina leaves. You can carry them with you where ever you go.
Masala Chaas
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of yogurt
- Salt as per taste
- 1/2 spoon roasted jeera
- 1/2 spoon of black pepper powder
- Water
Method
Step 1: Add 1/2 cup of yogurt in mixing jar
Step 2: Add salt as per taste, 1/2 spoon of roasted jeera powder,1/2 spoon of black pepper, 2-3 glass of water and blend
Step 3: Taste the chaas adjust spices if required and keep it in the refrigerator to cool.
Once cools serve the chaas as in or garnish with mint leaves.
